Shah Rukh Khan & Suhana Khan’s King is set to start production in January 2025, with Europe as its stunning backdrop. The film is scheduled for release in 2026
Building on the massive success of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan is set to dive back into the action genre with his upcoming film King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment alongside Siddharth Anand. After a meticulous pre-production phase, the team has finally confirmed the shooting schedule. Bollywood Hungama exclusively reports that Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan will commence filming King in January 2025.
A source close to the project revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “Shah Rukh Khan is committed to making King a cinematic spectacle. He is working closely with Sujoy and Siddharth to perfect the script and action sequences. This film will mark his return to the big screen after nearly three years, and the production aims to shoot in specific European locations during January to capture the ideal weather conditions.”
The film will feature a compelling two-character dynamic, with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role and Suhana Khan as his protege, facing off against Abhishek Bachchan, who will play the antagonist. The source added, “Shah Rukh Khan will star as the lead, with Suhana Khan by his side. Together, they will take on Abhishek Bachchan in this high-octane action thriller. The goal is to release King by mid-2026.”
In addition to King, Shah Rukh Khan is evaluating several scripts, including a sequel to Pathaan, directed by Aditya Chopra. Production for the sequel is slated to begin towards the end of 2025, following the completion of King.
