Jagriti 23rd September 2024 Written Episode Update: Harish Rescues Jaggu from Meeting Gurjan’s Demands
The episode begins with Durjan giving Jagriti an impossible choice—if she wants her father’s treatment to continue, she has to eat non-veg food. Nanda backs him up, saying, “Your father’s life depends on you now.” Mangla, furious, yells at Jaggu, while Bindi softly urges her to agree for Harish’s sake. Under immense pressure, Jaggu hesitantly agrees. Nanda immediately tells Vaid ji to start Harish’s treatment, and Durjan, pleased with himself, mocks Jaggu. Laughing, he orders a feast, demanding they bring chicken, rabbit, and more to celebrate Jaggu’s decision.
Nanda leads Jaggu to the table where the non-veg food is ready, seating her on a chair adorned with peacock feathers. Everyone watches as Mangla tells Harish, “Jaggu agreed to eat meat to save you.” Shocked, Harish rushes outside, recalling a promise he made to Gita. Meanwhile, Nanda announces that Jaggu’s ‘badki amma’ will feed her the meat. They try to force-feed her, but Jagriti keeps her mouth tightly shut.
Suddenly, Harish appears. He sits down, thinking of Gita’s words, helpless. Jaggu, noticing him, asks, “Baba, are you okay?” Nanda, trying to guilt her, responds, “He’s not fine yet. If you don’t eat, your father won’t get better.” With her eyes closed, Jaggu reluctantly opens her mouth, but just as she’s about to eat, Harish yells, “Stop!” He grabs the chicken from Nanda’s hand and throws it away. Hugging Jaggu tightly, he says, “You don’t need to eat this. I’m alive, and that’s all that matters.”
Ballu, watching the scene unfold, whispers to Durjan that they need to do something, as both Harish and Jaggu are becoming defiant. Durjan, with a smirk, signals Ballu to stay quiet, clearly entertained by Harish’s reaction.
Jaggu starts coughing from the strong smell of the food. Bindi looks at Nanda and reminds her, “I told you she can’t handle the smell.” Harish, standing firm, tells everyone, “Yes, we may be a community that eats non-veg, but Jaggu is just a child. She shouldn’t be forced into this. She will follow our traditions, but she won’t eat meat.” He then promises to earn money to contribute to the community. Mangla, unconvinced, questions his ability, “How will you earn money? You’re sick and can barely walk.” Ballu mocks Harish, handing him a bottle of alcohol, and says, “You must be thirsty after talking so much.” Harish takes the bottle, but before he can drink, Jaggu pleads, “Baba, don’t!” Harish then dramatically throws the bottle to the ground and tells Mangla, “I’ll overcome my addiction for my daughter’s sake.” Jaggu hugs him, proud of her father’s strength. Durjan continues to watch with an amused smile.
Nanda, not backing down, reminds Harish, “The rules are the same for everyone. Jaggu isn’t an exception.” Harish, angered, shouts, “I don’t agree with these rules!” Nanda tries to silence him, but Durjan steps in calmly, “Let him shout. Men who raise their voices are often destined for greatness.” He adds, “The future of the Chitta community is bright, and no one will force Jaggu to eat meat. But Harish, I want to see the man you were eight years ago. We need each other.”
Jaggu, feeling worried, calls out to her father, but Bindi quickly tells her to stay quiet. Durjan then warns Harish, “Your daughter is brave like you, but if she becomes a rebel, you know what happens. Sarkar (Kalikant) doesn’t go easy on those who challenge him.” Harish, realizing the seriousness, promises to teach Jaggu about the realities of their community.
Later, Ballu speaks privately to someone, sharing his plans to speak with Sarkar. He’s concerned because his father seems to be favoring Harish as a potential heir. Meanwhile, Harish reflects on their empty pantry, noting they only have dry rice and some leftover meat and fish. Mangla rudely asks, “Are we supposed to cook separately for her?” Harish, now understanding how unaware he’s been due to his drinking, declares, “I will earn enough money so Jaggu can eat whatever she likes.” Jaggu, smiling, says, “I like plain rice.”
Mangla, feeling bitter, accuses Jaggu of turning Harish against her. Determined, Harish tells Jaggu he’ll find her something to eat. Just then, Bindi enters with a jug of milk, saying, “I’ve brought milk to make kheer for Jaggu.” Jaggu’s face lights up with happiness. Harish, feeling guilty, says, “I can’t believe I didn’t know my own daughter loves kheer.” He promises to make it for her, and once it’s ready, they sit down together to enjoy the meal.
While eating, Jaggu curiously asks, “Baba, why do we make a wish with an eyelash on our hand?” Harish, remembering Gita’s teachings, gently explains the tradition. Jaggu closes her eyes, makes a wish, and softly asks for her mother to return. She then says, “Dadi told me I caused so much trouble that Maa died.” Shocked, Harish reassures her, “That’s not true.” Jaggu, still wondering, asks, “Did Maa hug me when I was born?” Harish remembers that Gita was unconscious at the time but lies to comfort her, “Yes, she hugged you.” Jaggu, with hope in her eyes, asks, “Can Maa come back?
